Top Ten Tuesday

The Top 10 Books That Would Be on My Syllabus (If I taught Journaling 101)

1.  Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh

Harriet is a notebook keeping inspiration.  When I was in elementary school I wanted to be just like her.  I wasn't, but her observations about her classmates sure were funny!

2. The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot

Mia keeps a diary that follow her through high school as she transitions into "becoming a princess". The movies are good and all, but the books are where it's at.  Mia is so funny and some of the situations she gets into are so awkward but she always manages to make it through.

3. Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney

These books are hilarious.  Enough said.

4. Absolutely Normal Chaos by Sharon Creech

I loved this book when I was a kid.  The Finney's are anything but normal, but as Mary Lou documents their lives during a summer, she really learns about the meaning of family.

5.  The Jessica Darling Series by Megan McCafferty

Jessica is a snarky teenage protagonist and the inner workings of her mind will have you both cringing and laughing.

6.  The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

Charlie's story is both uplifting and heartbreaking, but this is a book that I sometimes read over and over.

7.  The Dear America Books by Various

I used to really enjoy these when I was a kid.  It takes you back to a different place during a different time and tells you the story of a girl growing up there.

8. Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding

This book is kind of silly but also a lot of fun.

9. The Dork Diaries by Rachel Renee Russell

This is just a cute series about what it's like to be a girl just trying to survive middle school!

10. The Diary of Anne Frank by Anne Frank

This was one of our assigned readings back in 7th grade and it's an important book that everyone should read.

Until Next Time,
Marian
