Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.  This week is a Thanksgiving Freebie so I am writing about ten books that I am thankful for.

1.  The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot

Because Mia is caring, compassionate, and maybe a little bit awkward.  I adored these books when I was in middle & high school because I related to Mia so much.

2.  Little Women by Louisa Mae Alcott

Let's be real.  These sisters annoy me a little bit. I think they annoy everybody.  But I adored this book when I was younger and I still find comfort in it today.

3.  Just As Long as We're Together by Judy Blume

I used to be obsessed with this book and it's sequel in elementary school.  I've read it so many times. I think I secretly wanted to be Rachel Robinson. haha

4.  Betsy-Tacy by Maud Hart Lovelace

Because Betsy & Tacy are #friendshipgoals.

5.  Are You There God?  It's Me, Margaret by Judy Blume

Because growing up is so uncomfortable and this book made me feel a lot better about it!

6.  Girl by Blake Nelson

Because Andrea Marr knows what's up.  Really.  She's probably one of the coolest protagonists around.

7.  Dance on my Grave by Aidan Chambers

Because Hal & Barry have such a confusing love.  Sometimes you just need to read a book that makes your heart hurt, you know?  Maybe that's just me.

8.  Slammed by Colleen Hoover

Because this book introduced me to self published authors.  And it introduced me to Colleen Hoover. All her books are wonderful.

9.  The Thornbirds by Colleen McCullough

Because while she is incredibly naive and confused, Meggie knows what's up and never gives up.

10.  Don't Sweat The Small Stuff (And It's All Small Stuff) by Richard Carlson, P.h.D.

Because as I work through my struggles with depression and anxiety, this is exactly the kind of advice that I need in my life.

Take care,

  1. I'm so so thankful for The Princess Diaries and, basically, every other Meg Cabot novel I've read. She was the author who made me adore reading and I related to her characters a lot. Slammed was a pretty good novel - definitely very emotional, yet enjoyable. I didn't have the chance to read the other novels, but quite a few are on my tbr. :)
    Lovely list! :)

    1. Thanks for the comment, Veronika! I definitely agree with what you said about Meg Cabot. Any book she writes is fine by me. :)

  2. The Princess Diaries is so good! Mia is very relatable, which is something all characters should be :) I need to read Colleen Hoover's books. I know she's on my TBR, I just haven't got around to her yet...

    1. Thanks for the comment, Victoria! If you get the chance you should definitely check out Colleen Hoover. Her books are very engrossing.
