5 Ways to Prepare Yourself for Christmas

Thanksgiving is over and it's December and I'm feeling a little bit overwhelmed by Christmas.  Aren't we all?  It seems like there's so much left to do!  But that got me thinking about the different ways that I prepare myself for Christmas.  I wanted to share them with you so that you too can get into the Christmas spirit!

1. Give in to the cheesiness.  I know that a lot of activities like tree lightings and drinking hot chocolate and singing Christmas carols are old fashioned and maybe a little cheesy, but who cares? Just have fun and do what you want to do!  Even better, do it with your friends and family.  Because spending time with your loved ones is what makes the holidays so special.

2. Watch as many Christmas movies as you possibly can.  There are the goofy ones like Elf and The Grinch. There are the family friendly ones like Eloise at Christmastime and A Charlie Brown Christmas.  And don't forget the made-for-television gems like Holiday in Handcuffs or Naughty or Nice that play on ABC Family and The Hallmark Channel.

3.  Decorate your house.  This can be as simple putting up a little Christmas tree or as extravagant as lighting up your whole house like Chevy Chase did in Christmas Vacation.  All that matter is that when you're done, you get that warm feeling inside when looking at your work!

4.  Look at pretty pictures of snow (and other Christmas-y things).  It's oddly calming.  I usually do this on tumblr and some of my favorite blogs to look at are christmas-winter, xmas-wonderland,  xmasbells, daysuntilchristmas, winterlightscosynights,  freetrolltv, snowbellschristmas, and noelamour.

5.  Listen to Christmas carols.  I'm pretty sure we all have that radio station that plays all christmas music, all the time.  Right?  So get on it!  It's like Buddy the Elf says: "The best way to spread Christmas cheer, is singing loud for all to hear."
