5 Ways to Stay Productive!

For those of you who don't know me or may be new to my blog, I always have a creative project going on.  I am either writing a book or cutting & pasting a zine together or making things for my art blog or working on a D.I.Y. project for my house!  I like to stay busy and I like to get things done.

Obviously everybody lives differently and works different shifts and has different amounts of motivation and free time, but here are 5 ways that I stay productive in my every day life.

1.  Get up early.

Because I usually work the 3-11 shift at my job, that means that utilizing my mornings is crucial to getting things done.  I usually like to get up at 7 so then I can go to the gym, get some of my daily writing done, and do whatever strikes my fancy.

2.  Use down time to your advantage.

I am a guest services agent at a hotel which means that most of my job is spent standing in front of a computer screen.  A lot of the time I am busy checking people in and doing other things but I always keep my google docs open in another internet tab so that if I get some down time at work, I can get a little bit of writing done.

3.  Make the most of your space.

The picture above is one of my current desk space.  As you can see, that's where I keep everything. There are some Christmas cards, pens, markers, a candle, washi tape, my laptop, my collage papers. Basically, all kinds of things I need to work on my creative endeavors.

4.  Stay inspired.

Go on Pinterest.  Read a book.  Take a nap.  Watch a movie.  Do whatever you need to do to stay inspired and creative with your work.

5.  Take a break.

If you're not feeling it, you're not feeling it.  Have a cup of coffee and give yourself a little break. Then start up on your work again.  You'll feel more relaxed and more inspired.

Take care,
