5 Things to Know About: The Bungalow Mystery

1.  The Bungalow Mystery is book #3 in the Nancy Drew series by Carolyn Keene.  In this book, Nancy and Helen are on a little vacation and they meet a girl named Laura Pendleton, a recent orphan, who is meeting up with her new legal guardians.  The guardians, Mr. and Mrs. Aborn, give Nancy an odd feeling.  After doing some sleuthing, she realizes that Laura might be in danger and does whatever she can to try and help.

2.  I think one of my favorite things about The Nancy Drew books is how life is depicted.  When the story begins, Nancy and Helen are on a motorboat, enjoying the lake on vacation.  Wouldn't it be fun to go on all sorts of trips like that with your best friend?  I love Nancy Drew world.

3.  Did you know that Nancy is a young sleuth?  Because she is.  And Carolyn Keene (or whoever wrote this book) repeats the phrase over and over again.  Haha.  I'm pretty sure you could make a drinking game out of it.  And if you did you would have alcohol poisoning pretty quickly.

4.  This book was more sinister than I expected it to be, and I loved it.  You could tell that there was something off about the Aborns right from the beginning.  As Nancy works for her Dad and also tries to help her new friend Laura, she gets into quite a bit of danger and it's pretty exciting.

5.  I liked the parallel between Nancy helping her friend Laura with her guardian situation and also helping her Dad research for a case that he is on.  It made for an interesting story and it tied together perfectly.

Take care,
