5 Ways to Talk Yourself Out of Negativity


1.  When you're feeling down about your looks.

  • Remind yourself that you ARE beautiful!
  • Wear your favorite outfit.
  • Compliment yourself.  Out loud!  It will help you realize that it's true.

2.  When you're feeling down about your life.

  • Remind yourself that you are LUCKY to be alive!
  • Think about one thing you have that you are incredibly grateful for.
  • Make a list of goals and the steps you need to take to achieve them.  It will feel good to have a plan.

3.  When you're feeling down about your social life.

  • Remind yourself that you ARE loved, no matter what.
  • Think about one friend who you are incredibly grateful for and send them a text!  Everybody loves random, middle of the day texts.
  • Reach out to somebody and make some plans!  It's easy to get bogged down feeling sad but it's even easier to make a change and do something.

4.  When you're feeling down because of social media.

  • Remind yourself that social media is not always what it seems.
  • Log out of your accounts for the day.  Take a breather.
  • Do you really enjoy social media or do you just have it because?  Feel free to deactivate/delete accounts that you don't use/make you feel bad.

5.  When you're just feeling meh in general!

  • Remind yourself that you are a cool person who is able to make CHANGE!  Think of good ways to use your time.
  • Volunteer
  • Donate time to a friend/family member/neighbor
  • Donate old clothes/books to the salvation army
  • Start a new project
