What is Enough? (Going to See Tammy Strobel Speak!)

I went to see Tammy Strobel speak at York College on April 21st.  Tammy blogs at www.rowdykittens.com and is also an author.  For four years she and her husband Logan lived in a tiny house and her talk was all about tiny living and finding happiness through less.

Here are some things that I took away from the event:

  • This talk was part of a sustainable living series at York College and I think that's so fascinating.  It's the last program of the series for this year so I'll have to keep my eye out for more in the next academic year.
  • Tammy had such a nice speaking voice and it was wonderful the way she shared her journey to tiny living.  She started out in 2003 and then continued her story up until now, so it's been 13 years in the making.
  • Tammy talked about how Dee Williams was kind of her tiny living role model and it's super cool that they became such good friends.  Dee and her business partner Katie are actually the ones who BUILT Tammy's tiny house.  So cool!
  • There was a Q&A session at the end where Tammy answered all of our questions like how big is her house (128 sq. feet) and where do you park it (as it turns out, a variety of places!).  These were very eye-opening, as a lot of the listeners thought of things that hadn't even crossed my mind!

I really enjoyed the event and so I reached out to Tammy through social media later on that night to tell her!  She's so sweet.  She tweeted me back!

I haven't seen the documentaries that Tammy has been feature in but I hope to soon!  I find minimalist lifestyles very interesting and read a lot of blogs on that subject.  Like I said in my tweet, Tammy's talk gave me a lot to think about!

Take care,
