5 Things to Know About: One Day at Horrorland

One Day at Horrorland is one of the used books that I picked up at the Franklink & Marshall used book sale.  To see more of my haul, click here!

1.  Lizzy's family is trying to get to Zoo Gardens theme park but they're a little lost.  While her Mom and Dad argue about maps in the front seat, she sits in the back with her brother Luke and Luke's buddy Clay.  They see a sign for a theme park they've never heard of called Horrorland.  They decide to check it out, but immediately realize that Horrorland might be a lot more than they bargained for.

2.  This is book #16 of the Goosebumps series and I think if I had read this as a kid, I would have been a little scared.  The rides at Horrorland are truly horrific.  There's the doom slide and the scary fun house mirrors.  I'm really glad that Lizzy, Luke, and Clay decided to skip the roller coasters.  Who knows what might have happened to them?

3.  At one point, Lizzy and Clay were both really scared and Luke was completely disbelieving.  He was like, "Everything's fine guys!  You're terrified?  It's cool.  You're supposed to be."  If I had a brother like him I probably would have socked him.

4.  By far the part that made me laugh the most was the floating coffin ride.  Everybody gets in their own little coffin box and they float down the river in what they think is a relaxing ride.  But then the coffin lids slam shut and everybody's trapped!  What an imagination R.L. Stine has. haha

5.  As always, R.L. Stine writes in a few twists and turns to the story that take you by surprise.  This is actually one of the Goosebumps books that I never read as a kid so it was fun to get to see what Horrorland is all about!

Take care,
Marian
