Summer is Hard (But it's Almost Over!)

When I was a kid summer was all about hanging out with my Mom and brothers, going to the pool, and riding through my neighborhood on my bike.  The days were carefree and long.  I wasn't a fan of when August rolled around and I had to start collecting school supplies and get ready for school.

Now that I work in the hotel industry, I'm happy for summer to be over in a week and a half.  The shifts have been hard.  The guests have been challenging.  We're all ready for the kids to go back to school, the vacations to end, and for everything to go back to normal.

I had the day off today so my Dad took me to the beach house that he and my Mother own.  They live in a cute little townhouse complex and today was the official opening day of the pool and so we went to check it out.

I had so much fun.  The weather was wonderful and everyone was so nice and there was picnic food. I waited in line for us and got chicken for my Dad and a hotdog and chips for myself.  We may or may not have partook in a few beers as well. Haha!

There was even an older gentleman playing the steel drum along to all of his favorite songs as entertainment.  My Dad and I picked out two beach chairs right by his music so that we could listen as we soaked up the sun.  When I closed my eyes I felt like I was on a tropical island.

We're driving back to Pennsylvania tomorrow so that I can go back to work.  I'm very grateful for this time that I got to spend relaxing with my Dad.  I just have to keep reminding myself that summer is almost over!

Take care,
