Marian's Guide to Positive Living: Part 3

Marian's Guide to Positive Living is a 3 part blog series that will be leading up to the announcement of my new (& free!) journaling workbook on Friday February 17, 2017.

Happy Wednesday & Welcome back to my blog!  Today is the third day of my 3 part blog series about staying positive, upbeat, and inspired in your everyday life.  This is all leading up to my free 5-day journaling workbook which will be announced this Friday.

Today is the last day in the Marian's Guide to Positive Living series and I want to talk about a subject that is near and dear to my heart - which is positivity journaling.

To be more specific, I'm going to talk about my One Good Thing experiment.

I like to think of myself as a glass half full kind of girl, but that doesn’t mean I’m always happy.  I have my own personal struggles, just like everyone else.  It was a few years ago that I first found myself being bogged down my negativity.

I was four months out of college, working a job that I hated, as well as extremely sleep deprived due to the schedule I was working. It was hard for me to find any happiness in my days.  On a whim, I opened up my latest moleskine notebook and scribbled down the date at the top.  And that was when my positivity journal began.

I know you’re probably skeptical.  You’re probably wondering what benefits a positivity journal can possibly have on your life.  

Benefits of a Positivity Journal

  • Focusing on the good, rather than the bad, will put you in a good mood
  • We're so easy to remember the negatives, but not the positives.  With a positivity journal you can change that!
  • It's an awesome and fun form of self care.

Start Small

I wasn't sure about my positivity journal at first, so I started a tag on my Tumblr called One Good Thing where I wrote down one good thing about every day on my blog.  You can view it here.  It's fun to look back on and it was an easy project (is an easy project, because it's ongoing).  With the tumblr app, I could work on it every night while typing away on my phone in bed.
