Weekend Project: Reimagining My Marketing Plan & NaNoWriMo Prep

Friends, it's been a long weekend.  I've been working very hard on my email marketing plan as well as prepping for NaNoWriMo, which begins in less than a month.  Here's a little summary of everything I completed this past weekend.

1.  Broke Up My Email List in 4 Different Email Lists (That's right... 4!)

I've been listening to a lot of podcasts lately on entrepreneurship and it's made me realize that my one giant email list isn't cutting it.  My business (and my brand) is composed of a couple different factors and I wanted them to be separate so that subscribers won't me inundated by information that they aren't interested in.  My four lists are:

Author Marian Elizabeth

This is a newsletter just for my fiction writing and book releases.  The aim is to only send out emails when I have a new book releasing or when I have a fiction sale on Amazon.

Zine Newsletter

This is a newsletter just for my zine making and creative writing endeavors.  The aim is to only send out emails when I have a new book releasing or when I have a zine sale on Etsy.

Writing Tips Newsletter

This is a newsletter just for my writing tips and creative writing worksheets that I put together and want to share.  The aim is to send an email once a month with links to my blog posts about writing as well as some free printable writing worksheets.

Blog Newsletter

This is my main list that already existed.  The aim is to send out 1 email a month with links to blog posts as well as thoughts on reading, writing, pop culture, and what's going on in the world.

2.  Created Free Opt-ins for All New Email Subscribers

All of my email marketing research has told me that the best way to get new subscribers is to offer them something in exchange for their subscription.  That's why I created an awesome, free product for each of my lists.
  1. If you sign up for my Author list, you get a free 6 pg PDF Book Blogging Guide.
  2. If you sign up for my Zine list, you get a free digital copy of a mini zine I created called Things I Think About: Volume 1.
  3. If you sign up for my Blog list you get a free art print about journaling.
  4. If you sign up for my Writing Tips list, you get a free printable worksheet called "Interview Your Protagonist" that will help you get to know the main character in your novel.

3.  Came up with my Idea for NaNoWriMo

Up until Friday, I had no idea what I was going to write about next month.  Eep!  But while I was at work on Friday I had a great idea and that's the one that I'm going to stick to.  I'll be using my Interview Your Protagonist worksheet as well as a couple of other worksheets that I'll be sharing on the blog soon to put my ideas together.

That's all for today!

Yours truly,
Marian Elizabeth
to keep up to date with all my latest ramblings! :)
