5 Month Hazel Update: Rebel Without a Cause

Hello everyone! I'm popping in today with a quick update about my Puppy Hazel because she is almost 6 months old. We brought her home when she was just 8 weeks old so a majority of her life has been spent here at the Krick House and I think she is loving it! I know we sure are.

Because I'm an incredibly proud Dog Mama and I could write a novel about how much I love her (lol) I'll be brief and instead keep it to 5 facts about her.

1. She is a fool for peanut butter

The first time she had peanut butter was at her first visit to the vet. They let her have some when they gave her a vaccination and she was so thrilled by the peanut butter that she didn't even notice the shot. Ever since then it's been her favorite treat! My Dad likes to eat an apple & peanut butter when he watches sports at night and Hazel is always sitting there at his feet, waiting patiently for her little taste!

2. She loves to be around other dogs

I learned this when I signed her up for a puppy kindergarten class. It was her first time being around other pups besides when she was born (in a litter of 6). At first she was so shy and she just sat under my chair but then the teacher told us we could let our puppies of their leashes and all hell broke loose! Haha. Hazel loved to run around and play tag with all of her classmates. Now that she's fully vaccinated we got to the dog park at least once a week and it's heaven for her, running around until she's so tired and thirsty that she just has to stop for water.

The second class we took was Puppy Manners. Hazel had to go to remedial private sessions because she was so distracted during class by the other dogs. She just wanted to play!

3. She's a good jumper

Since my mom is allergic to animals with fur we have baby gates up to keep Hazel in a designated part of the house. She learned quickly how to jump the gates and now she's all over the place. She's a little goofball.

4. She steals people's hearts

I think it's safe to say that my Dad is totally taken by her. Haha. They have a morning routine worked out where he gets up at 5:30 AM on workdays and takes her out and feeds her breakfast. Then he reads the news for a while on his iPad and fixes his own breakfast (of plain greek yogurt & fruit) and Hazel always gets a dollup of yogurt and some of it always gets stuck on the fur under her chin. Haha.

5. She's an amazing companion

She's my little buddy. Where I go, she goes. We go on walks together. We go to the park together. We watch TV together. I know this is going to sound corny but she makes my life so much better.

Do you have any pets? Tell me your story about bringing them home and how their growing up process has been! :)

Yours truly,
Marian Elizabeth
